Anna Kårlund
PhD
I work as a postdoctoral researcher in the nutrition and food metabolomics research group of Professor Kati Hanhineva. I completed my PhD in 2016 in the doctoral program of health sciences (nutrition science major) at the University of Eastern Finland. In my PhD work, I studied bioactive compounds and sensory properties of strawberries. I have started my university studies in the biology study program at the University of Turku in 2007, with focus on plant physiology and molecular biology. I have completed my master's studies in food biotechnology at the University of Eastern Finland in 2012.
In my research, I concentrate on identification of endogenous and food-derived metabolites in human and animal samples. My main research interest is in the dietary proteins from different food sources and their effects on nutritional physiology, metabolism, and health.
