Biography

I obtained MSc in Physiology and Genetics from the Department of Biology at the University of Turku, Finland, in 2012. I then began my PhD studies in the research group of Academician Eva-Mari Aro at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Turku, and graduated with honors in 2018. My PhD research focused on the regulation of major bioenergetic pathways in cyanobacteria. From 2018 to 2021, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Luning Liu’s group at the University of Liverpool, UK, studying the biogenesis and dynamics of thylakoid membranes in cyanobacteria. I then joined Prof. Yagut Allahverdiyeva’s group at the University of Turku, Finland, as a Collegium Postdoctoral Researcher, focusing on the bioenergetics of photomixotrophy. In early 2025, I commenced my role as a senior researcher in the same group.
