Several models available in the literature for modeling drug release were used to describe experimental data on indomethacin dissolution from ordered mesoporous silica MCM-41 and SBA-15. Sigmoid-shape behavior observed experimentally was successfully explained by a drug release model, which relies on the concentration-dependent drug release constant. Physical reasons for such dependence are discussed. This simple model containing just two adjustable parameters could be used for treating dissolution data with sigmoid behavior.
