SummaryThis project examines the impact of individual speaking style and cross-linguistic differences on spoken second language. The project focuses specifically on the fluency of Swedish-speaking university students in their first language and its impact on their second-language fluency. Very little research has been conducted on Swedish-speaking speakers in terms of fluency. The project will also collect control data from Finnish-speaking university students to investigate the effects of different first languages. The first languages are thus Swedish and Finnish, and the target languages are Finnish, Swedish, and English, which allows for a comparison of the characteristics of multilingual speakers across different target and first languages. The data consist of monologue speech produced in response to a series of pictures. The results will benefit both Swedish language instruction and the foreign language learning of Swedish-speaking learners. The publications can be found on the project website: https://sites.utu.fi/flowlang/projects/multifluency/
