Doctoral dissertation project: "Performing the Pacific Island: Place, Practice, and Matter in the Making of Oceanic Taiwan"

I am a doctoral researcher focusing on the formation of national identity and collective consciousness in contemporary Taiwan. I graduated as Master of Social Sciences from the Centre for East Asian Studies (CEAS) at the University of Turku in 2019. I also hold previous master's and bachelor's degrees in English translation from the University of Helsinki.

Doctoral dissertation project (estimated completion 2025): "Performing the Pacific Island: Place, Practice, and Matter in the Making of Oceanic Taiwan". Employing an interdisciplinary framework with a socio-geographic orientation, the project examines the role of island geography, oceanic spatiality, and the non-human environment in the formation of national identity and collective consciousness in a politically contested community.
