Biography

Venla Mathlein, LL.M., is a doctoral researcher specializing in consumer marketing, sustainability claims, and the consumer's right to information. Her research focuses on legal transparency and regulatory questions related to marketing practices, particularly in cases where environmental or animal-related attributes are used to promote products.



Research

Venla Mathlein's doctoral dissertation explores the impact of sustainability claims — such as animal-related and environmental marketing — on the implementation of the consumer's right to information.



Teaching

Venla Mathlein coordinates the course Consumer Law in Practice (in Finnish: Kuluttajaoikeus käytännössä) at the University of Turku and the introductory animal law courses at Åbo Akademi University. She has also been a guest lecturer in courses covering consumer protection as well as environmental and climate law.
