Synthetic Health and Reseach Data (SHARED)

I started studying statistics at the University of Turku in 2016 and graduated in 2020. While working as a biostatistician at Auria Clinical Informatics, a department of Turku University Hospital, I got interested in data privacy, data anonymization and the potential of synthetic data. In my master's thesis "Generating Synthetic Longitudinal Patient Data with the PrivBayes Method" I generated synthetic longitudinal patient data with Bayesian networks from real patient data retrieved from the database of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland. I decided to continue with the topic and I am currently working on my dissertation "Methods for generating and evaluating synthetic longitudinal patient data".

My current research focuses on synthetic data generation, especially longitudinal data. In the future, I am interested in expanding my expertise to other privacy methods as well.

I am not currently teaching, but while working as a research assistant at the university in 2019, I had the opportunity to organize training sessions for students. I like teaching and I also got good feedback. My dream for the future is that I could possibly lecture and teach about data privacy, its importance, related problems and applicable methods to achieve privacy.
