Biography

I started studying statistics at the University of Turku in 2016 and graduated in 2020. While working as a biostatistician at Auria Clinical Informatics, a department of Turku University Hospital, I got interested in data privacy, data anonymization and the potential of synthetic data. In my master's thesis "Generating Synthetic Longitudinal Patient Data with the PrivBayes Method" I generated synthetic longitudinal patient data with Bayesian networks from real patient data retrieved from the database of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland. I decided to continue with the topic and I am currently working on my dissertation "Methods for generating and evaluating synthetic longitudinal patient data".

Research

My current research focuses on synthetic data generation, particularly for longitudinal patient data. I am also familiar with several anonymization methods, including spectral approaches. In the future, I am interested in further expanding my expertise to additional privacy-preserving methods.

Teaching

I am currently teaching the TILM3626 Statistical Consultation course. Previously, in 2019, I worked as a research assistant at the university, where I organized training sessions for students. I enjoy teaching and have received positive feedback from participants. In the future, I hope to establish my own research group focused on data privacy and synthetic data, and to continue teaching in this field.
