Väitöskirjassani tutkin kiihtyvyysmittarein sedentaariajan muutoksia eläköidyttäessä ja aktiivisuusintervention jälkeen. Sedentaariajalla tarkoitetaan istuen ja maaten vietettyä hereilläoloaikaa. Tutkimustyössäni selvitin sedentaariajassa tapahtuvia muutoksia lyhyellä ja pitkällä aikavälillä eläköitymisvaiheessa. Lisäksi tutkin, miten vuodenkestoinen teknologiaperusteinen aktiivisuusinterventio vaikuttaa juuri eläköityneiden sedentaariaikaan.
Postdoc-tutkijana selvitän vuorokauden aikaisen fyysisen aktiivisuuden, sedentaariajan ja unen muutoksia eläköidyttäessä sekä erilaisten elämänmuutosten yhteydessä.
