Biography

I am a Doctoral Researcher at the Turku Cellular Microbiology Laboratory (TCML), Institute of Biomedicine, University of Turku. My expertise spans virtual screening, structure- and ligand-based drug design, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of protein-ligand complexes. Additionally, I have extensive experience in recombinant protein expression, affinity, and size-exclusion chromatography, protein stability and folding analysis, in-vitro ligand screening, and protein crystallization. Beyond my research background, I have two years of experience teaching medical undergraduate students and four years of clinical practice in a hospital setting.

Research

My research aims to understand the interaction of bacterial pathogens with their host cells at molecular level. My research primarily focused on proteins, particularly enzymes, from both the bacterial pathogen and the host, which play crucial roles in determining the progression and severity of infectious diseases. To study bacterial infections at the molecular level, I use animal models, cell culture systems, and various biochemical and biophysical techniques in protein chemistry. The fundamental insights gained from my research serve as a foundation for developing novel antibacterial therapeutics.
