gender equality policy; gender budgeting; political economy; public governance; welfare state reform

I have a PhD in gender studies (2012, Tampere University) and a title of docent in gender studies (2016, Tampere University) and political sociology (2021, University of Lapland). I have worked previously as a researcher and as a senior lecturer at the universities of Tampere and Helsinki, as well as at the Youth Research Society. I have carried out research projects regarding, for example, gender equality and diversity in working life, gender equality policy, and welfare state reform. I also take actively part in societal discussions about gender equality.

I have carried out research about gender and diversity in work organizations, gender equality policy, gender and economy, and welfare state reform in Finland. My main research interests include gendered society-economy relations as well as the role of knowledge in contemporary politics and policy making. My ongoing research  is concerned with the changing conditions of gender equality policy in Finland. I am also interested in gender budgeting; I have developed methods and practices for gender budgeting in the Finnish state administration.

I teach qualitative research methods and sociological theories at the Department of Social Research.
