Biography

I received my PhD from the University of Helsinki 2003 with a thesis on conversation analysis and interactional linguistics. My focus was on teenage girls' use of parenthesis and rising intonation as interactional methods in storytelling. Subsequently, my research has looked at different learning situations, classroom interaction, writing in school, the interpalys of writng and reading in classroom situations, and physical touch in pedagogical school settings.
