The idea for this volume originated through the activities of the non-profit scientific association Swedish Network for Translation Studies (Svenskt nätverk föröversättningsvetenskap, SNÖ). Founded in 2016, the association has brought together young Swedish scholars in translation studies by publishing edited volumes and organizing seminars and conferences. In recent years, the associationhas also forged links with translation studies networks in Finland and Norway, and the last two conferences were held in Turku, Finland (2023) and Halden, Norway (2024).
