The fauna of the subfamily Phygadeuontinae Foerster, 1869, in the Middle East comprises 186 known species in 42 genera, of which Gelis Thunberg, 1827, with 45 recorded species, is the most species-rich genus. Also, Iranian Phygadeuontinae with 134 species in 39 genera is more diverse than the other Middle Eastern countries.
