Abstract

The aim of the digitization project was not only to archive the magazine in digital form, but also to make old issues more accessible to members and the wider public through open publications. Over the decades, the pages of Tekniikan Waiheita journal have recorded material on the history of technology and industrial cultural heritage that is invaluable to research and museums. Old issues contain, for example, translated presentation texts on the history of technology and descriptions of museum exhibitions, which are themselves part of the museums' own history. Other Nordic publications on the history of technology have also been digitized: for example, Sweden's Polhem: tidskrift för teknikhistoria and Daedalus, published by the Stockholm Museum of Technology between 1931 and 2017, are available in digital form. It should be noted that neither of the above-mentioned publications are still in print, which highlights the importance of Tekniikan Waiheita as a peer-reviewed journal of the history of technology in the Nordic countries.
