Over the past century, international police cooperation has taken many forms shaped by historical, societal and judicial changes. Based on ongoing doctoral research, this blog examines how Finland maintained police cooperation during the Second World War. Although the conflict challenged the ideal of apolitical collaboration and the need for practical cooperation diminished, there was a surprising degree of continuity and “normality”. This was greatly based on pre-war Nordic networks and personal relations, especially relations to Sweden
