International student mobility is often conceptualized through the lens of young, childless individuals, often overlooking the diversity within the student population. Empirical studies on exchange programmes have consistently shown that participation tends to be skewed towards specific student groups, with underrepresentation of students with caring responsibilities and those with disabilities, while also research on both of these student groups remains significantly underexplored.

This article introduces the Erasmus+-funded project Inclusion+: Tackling the Challenges of Erasmus+ Mobility Inclusion and Diversity at Higher Education Level. The initiative is designed to address structural and practical barriers to mobility for these two underrepresented groups, aiming to foster a more inclusive and equitable framework for international exchange within higher education.
