This study explores the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) engineering profession, focusing on how AI is reshaping workflows, roles, and skills within the domain. We investigate the integration of AI into ICT engineering practices, emphasizing human-AI collaboration and its potential to enhance productivity, innovation, and efficiency in ICT engineering. The study also identifies challenges, including skill gaps, ethical dilemmas, and communication barriers, underscoring the need for evolving educational frameworks and training programs to equip engineers with AI-related competencies and a mindset. We propose an education framework for responsible AI adoption, addressing ethical considerations, fostering inclusivity, and promoting sustainable practices. This work contributes to shaping a future where AI and human expertise work synergistically to address emerging challenges, drive transformative innovation, and create sustainable solutions in the ICT domain.
