Robert (Bob) Hardy is the bass player for the Scottish band Franz Ferdinand. Born in 1980, Hardy grew up in the outskirts of Bradford, Yorkshire, and moved to Glasgow in 1999 to study at its prestigious School of Art. He joined his friend Alex Kapronos in the nascent Franz Ferdinand in 2002. The band has since gone on to receive international acclaim with awards including the 2004 Mercury Music Prize for the UK album of the year with their eponymous debut album, an Ivor Novello Award for songwriting in 2004, and two BRIT Awards (Best British Rock Act and Best British Group) in 2005. The band has made five albums (and a “greatest hits” album) and still tours regularly across the globe. The following interview took place over Skype on 31 March 2022.
