This preliminary study examines the dynamics and plausible relationships of environmental migration and mobile technology in the future by incorporating some basic methods of futures studies and visioning three scenarios looking 40-50 years ahead. The scenarios tell a story of an urban refugee, amegacity resident and a neonomad, and glance on the different roles mobile technology plays in their lives. The key findings include seeing mobility as a plausible strategy for adaptation in the future, and that some of the basic reasons for using mobile technology today will most likely stay important among the future environmental migrants.
