Introduction.
The aim of this paper is to outline and discuss the significance of
organizational leadership in fostering employees’ information literacy
at the workplace.
Method. The conceptual discussion is based on the organizational leadership and information literacy research.
Findings.
It is argued that organizational leadership behaviour characterized by
task delegation, intellectual stimulation and individualized employee
support will enhance employees’ information literacy.
Conclusion.
Organizational leadership is an architect of workplace environment
including the information environment. As organizational leadership
defines polices, shapes culture and determines goals, its role in
employees’ information literacy development and practices is quite
important. Therefore, future research on information literacy in
workplace contexts should pay close attention to organizational
leadership norms and behaviours.
