Entrepreneurship under disparate conditions of adversity has become a topic that has increasingly gained more attention among the scholarly community, bringing to the field a variety of nomenclatures to describe a plethora of observed phenomena (e.g., inclusive entrepreneurship, necessity entrepreneurship, underdog entrepreneurship, poverty entrepreneurship, transitional entrepreneurship, disadvantaged entrepreneurship, among others). In this Editorial, we provide a systematic literature review to address the conceptual fragmentation of the field. Specifically, we clarify these concepts and examine their definitions, boundaries, and relationships to consolidate disparate nomenclatures and enhance theoretical clarity. In addition, we provide an overview of the manuscripts published in this Special Issue and discuss future research avenues to inspire upcoming studies to foster entrepreneurship among diverse and underrepresented groups.
