The status of ubique digital textuality and digital media, which
is gradually becoming more and more established and stabilized,
has inspired authors and researchers again to redirect attention
to a basic element of culture: the printed book. Paperinen avaruus. Näkökulmia kirjaesineen ja kirjallisuuden materiaalisuuksiin
(‘Paper Universe. Perspectives on the materialities of book objects
and literature’) is the first Finnish research anthology focusing on
the materiality of literature, the book in particular. In addition to
peer-reviewed research articles, the anthology includes poems and
essays by Finnish poets, authors, and researchers.
