Abstract

The DC microgrid is becoming increasingly popular in both the corporate and academic realms due to its cost-effectiveness, dependability, and efficiency compared to its AC counterpart. The decision between an AC or DC microgrid is based on the number of AC appliances and the type of distributed renewable energy resources. This chapter scrutinizes the commonly used topologies of DC microgrid, examines DC-DC converters, control, and storage technologies, and investigates the use of information and communication technologies in the control and management of microgrid and cluster of microgrids.
