In the application, users can explore the use of family leave in Finland by municipality or region. The application presents two different maps, where users can freely select the area classification and indicator they wish to view. Users may select specific municipalities or regions for closer examination by clicking them.

If the user selects the same area classification for both maps, the application will also generate a chart that allows the comparison of the relationships between two indicators.

The indicators represent the use of maternity, paternity, and parental leave by mothers and fathers, based on the child’s year of birth, even if the leave was taken over several calendar years. Parental leave includes the total number of days for maternity leave, paternity leave, and shareable parental leave. Home care allowance refers to the number of days each parent received home care allowance for the youngest child.
