Abstract

This final chapter addresses the current state and limitations of entrepreneurship research. Scholars are urged to be mindful of the contributions and drawbacks of commonly used methods. This chapter highlights the diversity of research methods grounded in various epistemological approaches and emphasizes the need to find effective ways to combine methodologies for knowledge creation. Quantitative and qualitative methods’ main limits and challenges are addressed. Furthermore, scholars are warned of the changing landscape caused by big data and AI, which necessitates creative mixed research methods. The chapter also explores the need for scholars to define their voice, critically design questions, and align methodological choices with their identity. The Sapir-Whorf hypothesis is invoked to underscore the impact of methodologies, methods, and philosophical assumptions as a language conditioning representation and mental image of entrepreneurship. The authors emphasize the importance of adopting playful approaches in entrepreneurship research and the need for continuous learning and collaboration with new tools throughout one’s career.
