"This chapter takes an outside-in view on the field of futures studies (FS) in Denmark using three personal lenses. The genealogical lens shows a storied history of FS in Denmark. However, the early establishment of prominent organisations did not translate into the development of FS as a well-recognized independent academic discipline in Denmark. The analytical lens therefore documents how many of the nominal contributions to FS attributed to Danish affiliations stems from outsiders - be it researchers primarily working in adjacent fields and/or researchers with non-Danish background. Seeing the field through a positive lens, however, highlights the emerging interest and the increasing level of activity related to FS in Denmark. If they can discard the most strictly purist views of who constitutes the demos of the field of FS, futures scholars will therefore find much in Denmark to get excited about at this point in time."
