Abstract

In wound care education, different teaching methods can be combined to cover the components of competence, like knowledge and skills. With varying teaching methods, students learn the core competencies in wound care and are able to apply theoretical knowledge to practical skills and performance. Traditional on-site and online teaching can be used in wound care education when teaching theoretical knowledge about wounds and their care. However, on-site teaching is recommended when training in practical skills and simulation because caring for patients with wounds requires practical training with real equipment.

With varying teaching methods, the teacher considers different types of learners and helps students build and apply their competence in various settings. The teaching methods should be chosen based on students’ study phase and competence level. The teaching should always have clear learning goals based on the curriculum, and the teaching methods should be chosen so that the students can reach the learning goals. In the recent literature, blended teaching in wound care education is effective.
