Dislocation is one of the leading causes for revision operation after primary total
hip arthroplasty (THA). Several risk factors have been associated with dislocation
revisions. We analyzed 33,661 primary THAs from the Finnish Arthroplasty
register performed between May 2014 and January 2018 in Finland. We found
that patients with American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) score III–IV, with
femoral neck fracture diagnosis, and patients who were operated on posterior
approach, with small femoral head size (32 mm) had an increased risk of revision
for dislocation after THA. To clinician concern special attention should be paid on
patients with femoral neck fractures, and with ASA score III–IV.
