The paper explores the business models and
scenarios for future development in Nordic newspaper publishing companies at a
time when technological, social and economic changes are challenging
conventional media logics, operations and business models. In the focus are
Danish, Swedish and Norwegian publishers with local newspapers in their product
portfolios. They provide an intriguing case for studying new business models,
as in all three countries the number of newspaper readers per capita is still
high and they also have a developed IT infrastructure, which provides the
foundation for new digital and online services.
