This report starts by giving a brief overview of Open Science and the academic reward system in general, then moving deeper into the connection between altmetrics and open science, followed by (possible) practical examples of how altmetrics are currently being used for research assessment and as part of the academic reward system in Member States. It concludes with recommendations for how altmetrics could be used for these purposes.
