Abstract

In the coda, we draw upon the main critiques and paradoxes of and objections to hybridity from the perspectives of different disciplines and discuss factors that deter acceptance of hybridity and arouse cross-cultural clashes that maintain binary thinking. It shows how anti-hybridity sentiments result in disintegration and formation of communities within communities, towns within towns. Furthermore, we discuss “post-ethnicity” and “post-hybridity” along with possible future development of the theories of hybridity in the study of literature. The theoretical discussions are supported by examples from literary works, mostly studied in the previous chapters.
