This chapter presents a case of a creative built environment. The study focuses on spatial theory and empirically it looks at creative location from the perspectives of a building, its immediate surroundings and an urban context of Helsinki, the capital city of Finland. The case combines creativity and built environment together with photographs, site-visit experiences, and qualitative classification framework considering three spatial elements, commonly separated in human geography: Material (architectural); Social (interactive); and Experienced (emotional) spaces. The case considers temporal renewal of urban space, as the dance house building was originally a cable factory (completed 1954), now amended with a new structure (completed 2022). This starting point defines the large open space design combined with the latest state-of-the-art interior design and building technology integration. The chapter reflects on issues of freely usable public space, closed spaces made for professional creative purposes, and image goals associated with the case. Conclusions are augmented with take-away lessens and future research tasks.
