Abstract

Albert Geouffre de Lapradelle was an internationalist, centrally shaping French international law during the interwar era. Omnipresent during his time, the recent years have evinced virtual disappearance of Lapradelle from international law, while many of his contemporaries have found new life as central figures of international as in the past. In this chapter, Lapradelle’s life is observed through the lens of ignorance with an intent to shed a light on choices behind the apparently contingent surface of international law.
