[Title of the article:] Erzya of two generations: ways of improving the language and traces of changes. [Abstract:] The corrections made by an older Erzya Mordvin speaker (b. 1952) in a translation of a Russian text into Erzya made by a younger Erzyan (b. 1983) were investigated in order to trace possible changes in the language of the younger generation. The analysis revealed an effort by the older Erzha speaker to make the text more idiomatic by avoiding Russian word order and replacing Russian structures and words by indigenous Erzya expressions. Traces of possible grammatical changes under the influence of the Russian language were found in the use of definite declension forms as well as the definite conjugation (object conjugation) forms.
