SummaryThis project examines the impact of individual speaking styles and cross-linguistic differences on spoken second language. The project focuses specifically on the fluency of Swedish-speaking university students in their first language and its impact on their second-language fluency. This project is a continuation of the Multifluency project, which investigated variations in fluency among Swedish- and Finnish-speaking speakers across different languages. In the first phase, data were collected and analyzed using speech samples. In the second part, additional speech samples were collected, with a focus on perceived fluency. In the third part, the perspective broadens to include cognitive fluency and eye-tracking experiments. The results will benefit both the teaching and assessment of Swedish as well as Swedish-speaking learners’ foreign language learning.
