TiivistelmäKin relations across generations and over the life course (KinCross) uses the Generational Transmissions in Finland surveys conducted in 2007, 2012 and 2018. Family relations of two generations, Finnish baby boomers (born between 1945 and 1950) and their adult children (born between 1964–1999), are studied. First, it is investigated how the use of modern communication technology is associated with kin contact and support. Second, the panel dimension of the Gentrans dataset is utilized to investigate longitudinal changes related to kin relations before (2007), during (2012) and after end (2018) the economic recession. Third, the retrospective module considering family arrangements during childhood is used to study how the conditions in early, middle and late childhood shape kin ties over the life course. The project will provide novel information on kin ties across the life course and over generations.
