Biography

Mika Murtojärvi is a university teacher. He received his PhD degree in computer science in 2016. Previously he has also worked as an assistant at a university and as a software developer in a private company. He has over 10 years of teaching experience and has also studied basics of university pedagogy.



Research

My research has mainly consisted of algorithm development for various applications. The research projects have been related to several fields including computational geometry, machine learning and parallel programming.



Teaching

Currently among the most important teaching activities are the supervision BSc theses and arranging a seminar course for students starting their BSc thesis. Additionally, I have ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​recently been involved with the following courses:

- Data structures and algorithms (lecturer in 2020)

- Basic methods of Artificial Intelligence (lecturer in 2021)

- Databases

- Several courses related to digitalization, acquisition of information systems and machine learning


Less recently, I have also arranged a seminar course in algorithmics and machine learning and taken part in the teaching of the basics of programming.
