Biography

I am a Collegium Researcher at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Turku and I hold the Title of Docent (adjunct professor) in theoretical physics. I'm an internationally recognized expert in both complex quantum networks and quantum machine learning. I lead the Quantum Machine Learning & Complex Quantum Networks group at the University of Turku.

Research

In our group, we consider quantum machine learning, complex quantum networks, and adjacent topics such as quantum computing. Our work on quantum machine learning has focused on quantum reservoir computing, a paradigm for turning a generic quantum system into a physical neural network, using the continuous variable states of multimode quantum optics platforms. We also consider all topics in the intersection of network theory and quantum sciences, inlcuding but not limited to: quantum Internet, network theory applied to quantum physics, and networks of interacting quantum systems.

Teaching

I regularly teach the advanced level theoretical physics course Seminar in Theoretical Physics, held on odd years.
