Research activities have
concentrated to the growing area of PET methodology including engineering,
physical aspects as well as modelling.
Recently, imaging is
moving towards multimodality imaging and Turku PET Centre is one of the best environments to perform research of my interest.
Within almost 30 years I have good collaboration to several research institutes research groups as well as with major PET instrumentation manufacurers.
My medical physics teaching started with 3 years Physics assistent in biomedical department the main responsibility was physics laboratory work with first year medical students.
During my hospital career I have been teaching and
still give courses on medical physics at the Turku University of applied
sciences (TUAS), faculty of health care (former nursery school). I am
frequently asked to give talks in national and international meetings and I am peer-reviewing
2-3 articles annually for international Journals and review abstracts for
several congresses (NACP and EANM).
My philosophy has always based on interaction with
students and to start teaching from the basics with a lot of real-life examples
so that it is easy to follow. In addition I give guidance to deeper
understanding and advice on where to find more information. This is why I chose
a career in applied physics. As being a link between university researches, new
features from manufacturers and clinical applications my aim is to get new
techniques for the benefit of patients
