I am a postdoctoral fellow with special background in educational inequalities, children´s cultural and societal participation, participatory disparities and socioeconomic inheritance. I am specialized in advanced statistical research methods and in comparative analyses.
I received an undergraduate Master´s degree in Education at the University of Jyväskylä before completing a PhD in Education under a joint supervision of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany and the University of Turku. My binational doctoral study focused on the person-internal and person-external determinants of children´s cultural participation in context of social inequalities (multidisciplinary approach including educational, psychological and sociological aspects).
I currently work as a reseach coordinator at the Centre for Research on Lifelong Learning and Education CELE and as senior researcher in a cross-country comparative project School Dropout and Post-Dropout Trajectories of Young People in Sweden and Finland. The project aims to provide insights into school dropout processes and post-dropout school-to-work transitions (STW) and find ways to improve educational and labour market policies and youth wellbeing in the Baltic region. The project is funded by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies.
I am also involved in a multiple-cohort large-scale longitudinal research project Steps to the Healthy Development and Well-Being of Children (The STEPS Study), where my focus of research is the equality of educational opportunities, risk and resilience in education, and educational pathways among children and youth.
