I am a Master (1984), Licenciate (1989) and Doctor (1993) of Political Sciences (Sociology) at the University of Turku, Finland. I work as a Professor of Sociology at the Department of Social Research, University of Turku. I am also a guest professor with specialization on housing and social theory at Uppsala University, Sweden. I edit the international journal Housing, Theory and Society.
At present I am doing theoretical and empirical research on issues concerning housing and housing policy. My current research topics are residential segregation, neighbour relations, housing policy change and the process of housing acquisition.
I teach history and classics of Sociology as well as sociology of neighbour relations. I run research seminars at the Master's and Doctoral level and supervise students at both levels.
