I am a Professor in Contemporary History with the University of Turku, Finland

My research interests are:

  • Julkisuus- ja kulttuuridiplomatia, propaganda / Public and Cultural Diplomacy, Propaganda 

My current projects (2018) are:

  • Suomen julkisuus- ja kulttuuridiplomatia kylmän sodan aikana / Finnish Public and Cultural Diplomacy during the Cold War
  • Ranskan ja pohjoismaiden väliset suhteet kylmän sodan aikana / Franco-Nordic relations during the Cold War
  • Biographical projects / henkilöhistoriat: Kalervo Siikala ja Maurice de Coppet
  • Suomalainen konsulijärjestelmä / Finnish consular system
  • Turun kaupungin kansainväliset suhteet 1970-2010 / City diplomacy in Turku, 1971-2011

I teach a general introduction to Contemporary History (P. 2.1), and courses in the history of European Integration, European international relations, European policy in the Nordic Countries, and Finnish History (FNSC9007). I also manage my department's introduction seminar to Masters studies (S4).    

I tweet in a personal capacity as @luikki and am present on Researchgate.
