Biography

Postdoctoral researcher in Intimacy in Data-Driven Culture (IDA) project that is funded by The Strategic Research Council (SRC) at the Academy of Finland. Working at the Department of Media Studies at the University of Turku, Finland. 

Her dissertation "Porn and Norms – Pornography and normative notions of gender, love, sex  and relationships in the sexual narratives of Finns on their adolescent experiences" is a mixed-methods study incorporating archival research, media analysis, questionnaire responses and an exhaustive analysis of records received from non-governmental, non-profit organizations in the fields of family, health, children, women and youth.





Research
My research interests include digital intimacy, sexual ethics and sex education, and young people's intimate practices in digital media. I have published on childhood, youth, pornography and the sexualization debates in leading academic journals such as Childhood, Young and Sexualities. In addition, I am an author of Median seksisisällöt ja seksuaalikasvatus (2016) and I have co-edited a monograph on media education titled Monimuotoinen mediakasvatus.
