Bichu Sebastian is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Turku, Finland, working in the SmartSens project. His research focuses on developing functional polymeric and cellulose-based materials for sustainable biosensing, microfluidics, and healthcare diagnostics.
He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram, India, under the supervision of Prof. Kana M. Sureshan. During his doctoral research, he developed crystalline organic polymers through topochemical reactions and uncatalyzed click chemistry, advancing the understanding of solid-state polymerization and structure–property relationships in molecular materials. His work has been published in leading chemistry journals and presented at international conferences.
