Biografia

I, Javad Rajabalizadeh, successfully defended my doctoral dissertation at the Turku School of Economics (TSE), University of Turku, Finland, receiving the highest grade, Laudatur (“Outstanding”). My dissertation, titled “Chief Executive Officers' Communication Strategies in 10-K Reports via Repetition from Notes to MD&A: The Impact of Managerial Ability, Overconfidence, and Narcissism,” examines how CEO characteristics influence the strategic repetition of information in corporate financial disclosures. Drawing on perspectives from accounting, psychology, artificial intelligence, and employing advanced textual analysis methods, this multidisciplinary research contributes to a deeper understanding of executive-driven communication strategies and financial transparency.

Following the completion of my PhD, I remained at TSE as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Accounting and Finance, with a four-year contract from January 2026 to December 2029. My postdoctoral research has received continued support from the Foundation for Economic Education, the Turku School of Economics Support Foundation, and the Turku School of Economics Association through competitive research grants and publication awards.

Throughout my doctoral studies, I received extensive competitive funding for my dissertation and related research projects from the Foundation for Economic Education, Alfred Kordelin Foundation, OP Research Foundation, Turku Foundation of Business Education, Paulo Foundation, EDUFI Fellowship, University of Turku Foundation, Turku School of Economics Support Foundation, and Turku School of Economics Association. My doctoral work was also recognized with the Best Dissertation Award by the Turku Finnish University Society.

Prior to my doctoral studies, I received the Best Dissertation Award at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. I also ranked among the top 0.2% of participants in the Iranian Master's Degree Entrance Examination and among the top 3% in the Iranian University Entrance Examination. In addition to my research experience, I have worked as a research assistant, workshop instructor, and co-auditor. I am actively involved in several academic and professional organizations, including the European Accounting Association (EAA), Iranian Accounting Association (IAA), Iranian Financial Engineering Association (IFEA), and Iran's National Elites Foundation (INEF).

I am fluent in English, Persian, and Turkish. Outside my professional activities, I enjoy outdoor and recreational pursuits, particularly futsal and swimming, which contribute to maintaining a balanced and active lifestyle.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Turku School of Economics (TSE), I am independently developing my research agenda while building on the foundations established during my doctoral studies. My research interests center on corporate narrative disclosures, financial reporting quality, and corporate governance, with particular emphasis on advanced textual analysis and computational methods.

With over ten years of professional and academic experience in accounting, auditing, and finance, I have developed a strong foundation in qualitative and quantitative research methods, statistical analysis, and applied econometrics. I am proficient in Stata, EViews, and SPSS and have substantial experience working with major financial and corporate databases, including WRDS (Compustat, CRSP, BoardEx, ExecuComp, and Audit Analytics), Refinitiv Eikon (Thomson Reuters), and Bloomberg. I also have extensive experience with Python programming and working knowledge of R, further strengthening my computational and analytical capabilities.

My research has been published in a range of international journals, including The British Accounting Review, Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Accounting Literature, Managerial Auditing Journal, Journal of Applied Accounting Research, International Journal of Accounting and Information Management, Asian Review of Accounting, Management Decision, Spanish Journal of Finance and Accounting, Spanish Accounting Review, Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting, Journal of Risk and Financial Management, and Journal of Language and Social Psychology (JUFO 3).
