Biography

Research

My primary research interests lie in interpreting studies, translation studies, sociolinguistics, interactional linguistics, the interpreter’s agency, and the sociological aspects surrounding interpreting practice, with a particular focus on gender.

My article-based doctoral dissertation (University of Helsinki) analyses the significance of the interpreter’s gender in public service interpreting, with a special focus on healthcare interpreting. In particular, I seek to identify how the interpreter's gender is constructed in interaction as well as the impact it has on communication.

Teaching

In my current position as a Spanish University Teacher at the University of Turku, I teach a variety of courses as part of the Spanish Bachelor's programme and the Multilingual Translation Studies Master's Programme

I previously taught translation and interpreting courses in the Master's Programme in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Helsinki between the years 2023 and 2025.
