Soft Robotics; Volumetric Additive Manufacturing (VAM), Computed Axial Lithography (CAL)
Development of Computed Axial Lithography (CAL) systems for high-speed, layer-less fabrication of soft robotic components.
- OpenCAL Implementation: Construction of an open-source, LED-based volumetric printing platform for rapid prototyping and material testing.
- Laser-based VAM: Development of high-resolution tomographic printers utilizing laser-based illumination to achieve sub-100 µm feature sizes.
- Applications: Engineering hardware and optical configurations for the production of functional soft structures, including endoskeletal soft robots and complex compliant mechanisms.
The work involves optical system design, mechanical assembly of rotation stages, and optimization of tomographic reconstruction parameters to enable the printing of high-viscosity resins without traditional support structures.
