Dr. Umar Bin Qushem is a visiting scholar and researcher at the Turku Research Institute for Learning Analytics (TRILA), Finland. He has been an academic staff member (research and teaching) of the University of Turku, Finland, from October 2020 to March 2026, where he also obtained his PhD in Learning Analytics. He holds an MSc in Computer Science with a specialization in EdTech from the University of Eastern Finland.
Dr. Umar is engaged in research and development on Future technologies in Precesion Education. His research centers on leveraging Technology-enhanced innovative tools and Anlaytics approaches to create personalized yet context-sensative learning experiences. These innovations inform the design of tailored learning paths and educational interventions that support complex learning, i.e., fundamental STEM concepts, competency-based learning, and human-centered design. Besides, he has been actively involved with EU funded research projects and communities. He has also been actively serving as a Stakeholder Advisor for the ENIS Network, a European network for International Student Mobility Research supported by COST Action funding (2021–2025) and a contributor to COST Action CA21107 - Work inequalities in later life redefined by digitalization (DIGI-net). He actively contributes to international research collaborations and interdisciplinary projects that connect AI, personalization, and learning sciences.
