Biography

Farhan Ahmad is university teacher in information systems in Turku School of Economics. He is also doctoral supervisor and external examiner in Edinburgh Business School, Herriot-Watt University, UK. Previously he has worked in Åbo Akademi University Finland, Edinburgh Business School UK and Edge Hill University Business School UK as lecturer. Ahmad has two master degrees, one in Business and Management and the other in Sociological Demography, both completed in Stockholm University, Sweden. He completed his PhD at Åbo Akademi University in 2018. 



Research

Farhan Ahmad’s research is largely interdisciplinary and diverse. It focuses on the areas of information and knowledge management, knowledge sharing, environmental scanning, workplace information literacy and multilingual organizations. His recent research explores workplace information literacy, its antecedents and implications for employee and organizational productivity and ambidextrous innovation. He is also interested in exploring big data implications for knowledge creation and management. He is currently collaborating on projects on circular economy and environmental scanning. Farhan has strong interest in applications of distinct research methods such as fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) and bibliometrics (bibliographic coupling and co-citation analysis).  

He has expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research, particularly in structural equation modeling and case study research.

He has published work in several international journals such as Long Range Planning, International Journal of Information Management, Journal of International Management and Journal of Information Science. He is a reviewer for many journals such as Information, Technology and People, International Business Review, Knowledge Management Research & Practice and Journal of International Management.



Teaching

His current teaching includes courses on knowledge and innovation management, business models and research methods. He has taught courses previously on knowledge management, information behavior, competitive intelligence, humane resource management, knowledge creation and business research methods.
